The Hike 2019 in Ghana

Imagine: Fishermen arriving at the shore in the early morning, in their handmade boats, to sell their daily catch to the locals.

For those of you who will participate in The Hike, you will experience the real Ghana! Not only along the coastline, but also in the various villages, the city and the Shai Hills National Park, known for its baboons.

In two 12 hour walks you will walk as many miles as possible for SOS Childrens Villages in Ghana. With every step you take, you'll make a difference in the lives of children who desperately need your support. This is what makes the adventure extra special: you're giving a child the chance to grow up in a loving family and a chance at a brighter future. We ask you to raise € 1500 and by doing this, you'll be making a direct contribution to improving the lives of the vulnerable children in Ghana.

The Hike will take place on November 16  and 17, near Tema, on the Volta River and in Shai Hills. We ask that you book your own flight and make sure to arrange your own accommodation before and after The Hike. The kick-off meeting will be held in Accra on November 15. Goed getraind naar Ghana

30-08-2019 | 09:00 The Hike is als 24-uurs loop een fysieke uitdaging. Dit heeft met name met de warmte en luchtvochtigheid (80%) van Ghana te maken. In november is het er zo rond de 25 graden, maar daarmee nog ontzettend warm, omdat er weinig wind staat. We lopen 2x12 uur en tussendoor is er ruimte voor rust. Wel moet je beschikken over een goede basisconditie. Twijfel je over je fitheidsniveau? Aarzel niet en neem contact op met je huisarts of trainer. Ook is het van belang om vooraf te gaan trainen. Hiervoor krijg je tips en adviezen. Een handige site hiervoor is: Hier vind je heel veel nuttige tips en schema’s (ook voor beginners). En een test om te kijken hoever je al bent in je trainingsproces en met de opbouw van je conditie.
