SOS Children's Villages has been committed to children who can no longer live with their families and children without parents or a safe environment in which they can grow up. We’ve been doing this for 70 word-wide and in the Netherlands we’ve been doing this so for 53 years. We believe that family is the most important basis for a healthy development of children. Thanks to SOS Children's Villages, hundreds of thousands of children around the world have a solid foundation to develop optimally into promising and independent adults. Preferably within their own family, but if that is no longer possible in an SOS family in a children's village. We work with children, families, communities and states to prevent family breakdown and ensure that children's rights are met.For more information visit www.soskinderorpen.nl
Our organization is focused on helping children who are on their own. That is the reality for 1 in 10 children worldwide. We also work with families to prevent family breakdowns. This way we prevent children from vulnerable families from being left alone. We believe that every child is not only entitled to care such as education and a safe environment. We also believe that family love is conditional for the development of a child. Imagine that you had to grow up without the care of your family?
Your gift will certainly be spent well! SOS Children's Villages has been meeting the requirements of the Central Fundraising Office (CBF) for responsible fundraising for years. The CBF is the supervisor for charities in the Netherlands. More than 500 charities can be tested by this organization against strict quality requirements. At SOS Children's Villages we aim for a spending percentage (spending on objectives / total income) of around 80%. In 2017, the percentage of target spending in relation to income came to 79.57%.
The percentage rate compares the total amount of money spent on (own) fundraising with the total income from own fundraising. In 2017 this amounted to 16.53% (compared to 16.8% a year earlier). The costs for management and administration we’re 3.80%. As a result, the percentage of target spending in relation to income in 2017, amounted to 79.6%.
With the money raised by the participants of The Hike, the full amount goes to the work of SOS Children's Villages in Ghana. So 100% of the money that the participants raise, benefits our work for children in Ghana.
Your donations are deductible if the amount you give exceeds 1% of your taxable income. So suppose your income is € 25,000. Then 1% is € 250. You give € 300, so € 50 is deductible. You will receive a part in return.
We are a charity that needs marketing to be able to help as many children as possible. We always do this in the most cost-effective way. For instance, a lot of the marketing costs are sponsored by our partners.
